Is chiropractic care good for athletes? So as we’re training for a sport event, we put our body through a lot of unnecessary forces and when we do that, we can cause the joints and the neck, the low back, the hips, the knees to become out of alignment. So a subluxation is when the joint is out of place. But what we want to do is correct that joint back into the right position. You can have different kinds of subluxations. You could have a forward translation. You call that loss of lordotic curvature. So we want to adjust the neck back into the right posture. You can have a rotation adjustment where the vertebra is out of alignment in the rotatory component or you could have a lateral bend and a lot of times we call this scoliosis. So yes, chiropractic adjustments are great for runners. We work with a lot of tennis players, golfers. I’ve worked with gymnasts, dancers. I’ve actually worked on a D1 linebacker who is training to go on the NFL. He was 6’6”, 250 pounds, full muscle, very fast. He has had multiple concussions. He was a great patient because his body needed the care. So every time he got tackled or had a hard hit, it would throw his body out of alignment. So he would come and see me and we would fix him up. We would put him back together. So chiropractic care is great for sports injuries of all kinds and we help a lot of different athletes.
