Chiropractic Care
Modern Chiropractic started in 1895 in Davenport, Iowa when D.D. Palmer adjusted Harvey Lillard, a deaf janitor who worked in the same building.
After this adjustment to his neck, Harvey’s hearing was restored. This amazing find lead D.D. Palmer to study and focus on the spine and nervous system.
Palmer College of Chiropractic opened in 1897 and is still open to this day.
Chiro from Greek refers to the hands, and practicos meaning practitioner were added together to literally mean a Doctor who practices with his hands.
Chiropractic has been around for thousands of years dating back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and China.
Today there are more than 30 different Chiropractic techniques that use different types of hand adjustments, instruments, tools, and tables that can help crack, drop, or click the spine using different and gentle methods.
Dr. Johnson prefers to start adjusting his patients with gentle adjustments at first to see how their bodies handle the treatments. Once the patient starts to feel less pain for are more comfortable then Dr. Johnson will add more advanced adjusting techniques.
Some patients are very familiar and comfortable with Chiropractic care. If you have a preference to a specific technique, make sure to let Dr. Johnson know and he will accommodate his techniques to suit your needs.
